  • Teaching Squares

An image with colourful squares and photos of teachers and instructors. The text reads: 'Teaching Squares. Celebrate Teaching. Build Community.'Teaching Squares is a program offered to faculty and part-time instructors at UOIT and Durham College who are interested in gaining new perspectives by attending a few colleagues’ classes as observers and welcoming colleagues to attend a few of their own classes.  The program is offered in the fall and winter terms.

Each offering of the Teaching Squares program begins with a brief kick-off meeting near the start of the term wherein participants are placed in small groups (‘squares’) and meet to coordinate schedules for classroom visits.  Participants visit each of the group member’s classes once.  Group members coordinate an informal meeting time to reflect on the experience together.  At the end of the term, participants meet for a celebration dinner to reflect on the experience.  The approximate time commitment is 7-8 hours.  Returning participants are welcome.

The current offering is in progress.  Future offerings of the Teaching Squares program will be announced via the UOIT Weekly Report.
