Description

This workshop provides a basic introduction for those who are completely new to Blackboard or would simply like a refresher. This workshop is open to all faculty and sessional instructors.

Learning Objectives

This workshop will:

  • Discuss best practices in accessible course design serving as a foundation. Participants will practice the following:
    1. Posting and organizing content in Blackboard .
    2. Using basic Blackboard communication tools (including announcements and discussions)
    3. Posting assignments
    4. Basic Grade Centre features.  
  • Provide the last 30 minutes of the session for time to work on individual courses and ask questions.

Requirements

  • Access to the Internet.
  • It is recommended that participants bring their course outlines.
  • This workshop is open to all faculty and sessional instructors

Learning Objectives

This workshop will look at the following advanced Blackboard features:

  • Setting up groups
  • Blackboard tests
  • Turnitin assignments
  • Advanced grading and course reporting features

Requirements

  • Access to the Internet.
  • It is recommended that participants have taken Blackboard Part 1, if they are not already familiar with Blackboard before taking this workshop.

Description

This workshop allows participants to gain hands-on experience using a range of features that may be used by teaching assistants.

Learning Objectives

This workshop will:

  • Provide a basic introduction to Blackboard communication tools, including announcements, messages, discussions and groups, will be provided.
  • Discuss Grade Centre features.

TAs who will be responsible for creating tests or assignments are welcome to stay for the last portion of the workshop that will focus on assessment tools.

  • This workshop is open to all UOIT teaching assistants.
