Camtasia

Camtasia is a screen capture and video editing software package that allows you to capture your screen or PowerPoint presentation, add audio and video effects and quizzes.

Camtasia is best used when you need to create online presentations. In comparison to Kaltura, it offers more control with video and editing features. It also has a quizzing feature, although it is not integrated with the grade center in Blackboard, so quiz marks can’t be captured for student grades.

Camtasia is more complex and has a higher learning curve than Kaltura, so it is only recommended if you need to create a more complex project that requires video effects and editing. Basic screen capture videos can be done with Kaltura.

Getting Started

UOIT has an institutional license for Camtasia. To request a license, you must submit a software request form to IT Support Services.
