Project Support

The multimedia developers at the Teaching and Learning Centre can provide you with professional quality video, photography, and design for your courses or special projects. To start a project with the Teaching and Learning Centre, begin by filling out our Project Initiation Form.

Add video elements to your online or hybrid courses to help facilitate thinking and problem solving. Additionally, video can be used to help communicate facts or demonstrate procedures to assist students in mastering a topic.

Getting Started

Conceptualize the topic or specific lesson you would like to have a video created for to support student learning. Contact the Teaching and Learning Centre (teachingandlearning@uoit.ca, or our Project Initiation Form) with your concept in order to begin the collaboration process.

The delivery times for video can vary depending on the scope of the project. The average video production time from initial meeting to implementation is approximately three weeks.

If you would like to create your own videos, here are some suggested equipment, software, and resources to help you get started:

After we shoot your photography session, images are delivered in approximately one week.

Resources

If you would like to shoot your own photographs, here are some suggested equipment and resources to help you get started:

  • Entry level DSLR (Nikon D3400 or Canon Rebel T6i)
  • SkillShare

If you need help with special diagrams or infographics for your course, the Teaching and Learning Centre can help. From web banners to drawings, we can design projects that are aesthetically pleasing, accessible, and easy to understand. You can also utilize our graphic design services to customize your Blackboard course page, or call upon the Teaching and Learning Centre to create teaching dossiers for applications to national teaching award programs.

The average production time for graphic design projects depends on the type of project. On average, Blackboard banners take 1-3 days, and a more detailed infographic would take approximately two weeks.

The multimedia experts at the Teaching and Learning Centre also provide support for the creation of online learning objects (eLearning objects), audio recordings/podcasts, and animations. We also support do-it-yourself projects through our series of faculty and educational development workshops.
